MAGNÍFICAT ÁNIMA MEA DÓMINUM.
– MY SOUL MAGNIFIES THE LORD.

Our mission

The Pittsburgh Oratory and Newman Center cultivate lifelong relationships with Christ in local university students and lay faithful of Pittsburgh through participation in the sacraments, devotion to the Word of God, and formation of intentional Catholic community, following the spirit of St. Philip Neri and St. John Henry Newman.

Campaign goal

The rationale for our capital campaign is best understood in light of the title we have chosen for it: “Magnify the Lord.” These words are taken from the Blessed Virgin’s song of praise in Luke’s Gospel: “My soul magnifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my savior.” We wish to expand and beautify— in a word, to magnify—every aspect of the Oratory and its ministries because they are the best instruments we have in our work of magnifying the Lord.

“The Oratory is our second home, with St. Philip Neri as our guide. We are very thankful to be known and loved by the priests and brothers, and have built community there. Where else could we find the rich availability of not only perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, but also multiple Masses and confession times per day, let alone per week? There are study and formation groups to be part of, as well as social occasions where we can meet friends.

The past 12 years at the Oratory have been very important for our growth in holiness, our spirituality, and our life of peace. Thanks be to God.”
